The lyrics reveal a slightly darker message of Annie recalling a person who has caused her a great deal of heartache and suffering - as she puts it - 'You Know That's All You Ever Were / A Bundle Of Lies / I should have known better / Thorn In My Side' and it's unrelenting. It's clear to see the popularity of the song to the masses because of it's beat and without sounding too corny, 'dancibility'.
