Track : I Saved The World Today
(From Album 'Peace')The first track to be released from Eurythmics comeback album 'Peace' is a song full of messages. Annie tells us that 'there's a million mouths to feed and I've got everything I need' which could be referring to the Eurythmics sponsorship of Greenpeace and Amnesty International and the ongoing plight of those less fortunate than ourselves.
The chorus provides hope in 'Everybody's Happy Now, The Good Thing's here to stay / Please Let It Stay'. All proceeds from the Eurythmics' tour went towards the two above mentioned organisations and this song reveals a poignant message filled with questions but also of hopes that can be fulfilled and it's clear that the Eurythmics and their fans are doing everything in their power to change the situation.
During the video, however, the Peace Treaty that Annie and Dave are attempting to sign, is marred by a spillage of ink - ruining the papers and arguably, the attempt to right the World. In reality, it's probably just a message that there are hurdles still to cross and we're not there just yet...
